Skincare inspired by the elements.

Toil+Trouble founders Steph, Abby and Radia commissioned me to develop the identity, packaging and digital media for their elemental skincare brand. For them, building an inclusive brand with an edge was not just a choice, but an essential pillar of their ethos. Recognising the diverse nature of beauty and skincare needs, the female founders set out to create a range that would resonate with customers, regardless of gender or background.

Driven by a desire to break free from convention, the founders envisioned a brand that not only exuded attitude but also had a deep-rooted connection to the elements.

"You won’t find us using images of rose petals and lavender mists. We find beauty in natural chaos, like the crashing of waves, molten rock and the complexities of mother nature we normally overlook."

By delving deeper into each element and unraveling its scientific essence, I was able to craft a distinctive logo and identity system that reflected the interconnected nature of the particles that make up each element.

The identity system allows you to create
endless graphic applications while staying consistent with the brand.

The design elements were thoughtfully adapted to fit the unique constraints and opportunities of each medium, guaranteeing a harmonious and consistent brand presence. From the website interface to the packaging materials, the design system allows Toil+Trouble's brand identity to always shine through.

We’re not just another skincare brand. What we stand for, is bigger than us.

The elements in motion.

I used animation to give the particles a mesmerising and captivating presence. Drawing inspiration from the elemental forces that influence Toil+Trouble, the animated particles dance and interweave gracefully, mimicking the natural connective patterns found in the elements.
